Concentra and Valor Healthcare Join Heroes to Healthcare
CONCENTRA AND VALOR HEALTHCARE JOIN THE HEROES TO HEALTHCARE MISSION, A U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM FOR HEALTHCARE-EXPERIENCED VETERANS SPONSORED BY IMPOWERQ ASSOCIATES, LLC.
ADDISON, TX – November 11, 2018 – Concentra®, a national occupational healthcare company, and Valor Healthcare, a provider of high quality healthcare to America’s veterans, are leading the charge to promote Heroes to Healthcare, a U.S. Department of Labor national apprenticeship program sponsored by ImPowerQ Associates.
“Creating strategic partnerships with public and private organizations, the Heroes to Healthcare mission aims to address the critical underemployment challenges facing nearly 11,000 healthcare-experienced, mid-enlisted military medical professionals that transition out of the military annually,” said Dave Gregorio, co-founder and executive director of social impact at ImPowerQ.
Healthcare-experienced enlisted veterans have been identified as the third largest cohort of underemployed veterans. The Heroes for Healthcare program is designed to address this crisis by providing advanced learning strategies, highly regarded healthcare credentialing content, and professional and personal skill development for veterans.
The apprenticeship provides veterans with a competitive advantage in four career tracks: healthcare administration, medical assistant, pharmacy technician, and cybersecurity.
Keith Newton, Concentra’s president and chief executive officer, stated: “Concentra is honored to participate in the Heroes to Healthcare program, and we are excited to partner with ImPowerQ on this important initiative, which will not only support our veterans but also enable the delivery of best-in-class medical care to America’s workforce.”
“We are proud to partner with Concentra on our flagship program, which aims to empower our healthcare-experienced veterans with the resources they need to obtain meaningful employment and provide Concentra with America’s highest quality healthcare talent,” said Samina Hooda, president and chief learning officer at ImPowerQ.
It is an opportune time to announce this partnership, as U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta has announced that National Apprenticeship Week will be held during November 12-18, 2018, as well as Veterans Day being observed on November 11.
“National Apprenticeship Week provides an opportunity to spotlight how apprenticeships can help Americans learn the skills they need for success in today’s workplace. By increasing the number of apprenticeships, more Americans will be on the path to family-sustaining jobs,” said Secretary Acosta.
